I am a child of the 60s. There were some great times to be had and I've had the privilege of knowing some extraordinary people. The times really were a-changin' and faces do come out of the rain when you're stranger. I am middle age, if I live to be 112 years old. Somehow I have made my home in the Ozarks, but am originally from Ohio. I grew up in Maumee, Ohio, moved to the Lima area my junior and senior year of school. I graduated from Elida High School 1968. I went Bowling Green University for awhile but didn’t graduate. I was too busy partying and trying to change the world with love beads, peace marches, pot and free love. That hasn’t really turned out like I thought it would. Pot is still illegal, Iraq is the new Viet Nam and free love gave the world Aids. Oh well, we keep on trucking and keep trying to bring some wisdom and clarity to this insanity. It is nice here in the Ozarks, but I feel like one of the pioneers that were heading for the west coast and ended up staying where their covered wagon broke down. I still intend on living further west where the weather maybe a little bit more hospitable. That has been put on hold while we take care of house payments and accumulate some more THINGS to make our lives more comfortable. My husband, Steve is from this area and he still has family here. We have had three great sons. Paxton is our oldest. He and his wife Stina live in New Mexico. Michael and Matthew both live in the Ozarks. I have a great career at a local hospital. I’ve worked there over 17 years and it astonishes me how the years have flown by. Every day is different and I work with some fantastic people, who like most healthcare workers are caring, intelligent and codependent with a twisted sense of humor. It is a good occupation for me. I have a tendency to be a bit self-centered and when I go into work it is obvious that no matter what is going on in my own life, it can always be worse. I became ill last year and in April I had to have a pace maker. I hadn’t realized how sick I was until I felt better. That has really changed my attitude about life. I really try not to sweat the small stuff any more and realize that minor inconveniences like traffic jams and ignorant people just aren’t worth ruining a good day for. Everyone has pain in their life. Everyone has stress and hurtful situations going on. Everyone has a story. They don’t need me being a bitch to add to their problems. Therefore I choose not to be one.
